3 Year Programme
Information systems are integral to every face of business from the core functions of procurement, accounts or sales and marketing, through to intelligent systems that aid strategic decision making. Departments within the same company cannot base the decisions they make on their operations alone, as the actions of one department impact on those of another to a greater or lesser degree. As a result, more and more companies are integrating their information systems, allowing separate divisions to share information and make more informed decisions with a broader organisational view.
Recent events in the world economic order have only served to emphasise the importance of information systems in making better use of resources and increasing company efficiencies, performance and overall competitiveness. Companies are now placing greater priority on aspects such as performance measurement, creation of new markets, customer loyalty and making future forecasts-both for the business and within the wider economic environment. Information systems enable all of these aspects to an increasing degree and promise to play a widening role in the running of organisations into the future. The Bachelor of Business Information Systems ties strongly to strategic and commercial elements of the organisation, providing a strong business-orientated perspective throughout.
Graduates will gain:
- A holistic knowledge of the importance of information management within the wider organisational context.
- A firm grounding on the leading trends and key aspects of information and communications systems, and how they can be applied to different areas of the organisation-from strategy planning and decision making to the more functional operations of the business.
- The skills to manage both information systems and human resources with a high degree of professional ethics.
